OHMG were appointed as the main contractor for the Newforge Sports Complex & Event Hub, a £5.8 million shared space development located on a 16-hectare site in South Belfast. This project, previously a police sports centre, is being transformed by the Newforge Community Development Trust with the vision of converting the restricted facility into a community space. The new complex aims to foster peace and reconciliation throughout Northern Ireland and the cross-border region.

The development is designed to promote co-existence among various community groups, including youth and sports clubs, schools, churches, local residents, and members of the security, emergency, and armed forces. The 5,286 square meter facility includes a shared reception, a large sports hall, fitness suites, treatment and changing rooms, multi-purpose spaces, a refreshment area, office and conference rooms, as well as parking and landscaped areas. The project aspires to achieve Disability Sport NI’s Inclusive Sports Facility Excellence mark, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all users.
