OHMG was appointed as the Main Contractor to deliver a state-of-the-art Wellbeing and Treatment Centre, developed in collaboration with Belfast City Council, the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust, and the Belfast Education & Library Board. This pioneering facility is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland, uniting three essential public services — leisure, healthcare, and education — under one roof to serve the community in a holistic, innovative way.
The project involved the construction of a multi-purpose complex that seamlessly combines a leisure centre, health centre, and library, along with shared public and service areas. The facility was designed to encourage community wellbeing, accessibility, and social inclusion, creating a shared civic space that promotes both physical and mental health.
The leisure centre features a 25-metre swimming pool with a movable floor capable of reaching a 2-metre depth, as well as a children’s pool with a slide and water fountain. Additional amenities include changing rooms, a modern fitness suite, a full-size sports hall, and multi-purpose activity rooms. Together, these spaces support a wide range of sporting, fitness, and community programmes.
The health centre component includes consulting rooms, treatment and examination spaces, clinics, and administrative offices, all designed to provide accessible and efficient care. The library complements these facilities, offering a calm and educational environment supported by shared public spaces, including a welcoming foyer, café, and plant and service zones — ensuring a fully integrated user experience.
