The project encompasses the development and construction of a new DVA Test Centre and Office Accommodation building, supported by extensive site works that include access roads, junction upgrades, and major retention structures to accommodate level changes of approximately 17 metres. The Test Centre itself spans 3,942m² and incorporates vehicle testing and plant zones, alongside a two-storey administrative block.
The Test Hall features a column-free portal frame structure, providing an impressive internal height exceeding 10 metres. This expansive space supports advanced vehicle testing operations and is enhanced by an automated air quality system, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. The design reflects precision engineering and robust construction tailored to meet the DVA’s operational demands.
Adjacent to the Test Centre, a second building of 3,209m² provides office accommodation for up to 170 workstations. The offices are arranged around a striking three-storey open atrium, designed to maximise natural light and create a collaborative workspace. A vehicle storage area occupies the lower ground level, integrating practicality with architectural sophistication.
The development is designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, showcasing OHMG’s commitment to sustainable construction and environmental performance. Key initiatives include photovoltaic arrays, solar panels, passive cooling systems, Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS), and rainwater harvesting. These features collectively promote energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and demonstrate leadership in responsible building practices.
