Delivered by OHMG, St Mary’s College is a state-of-the-art educational facility accommodating 825 pupils within a compact and efficient three-level layout — comprising lower ground, ground, and first floors. Spanning 11,500m², the new college represents a significant investment in modern learning infrastructure, designed to provide students with an inspiring and future-ready educational environment.
The project was executed in two main phases to ensure continuity of education and minimal disruption to staff and pupils:
Phase 1: Construction of the new college building and associated external works.
Phase 2: Demolition of the existing school structure followed by the creation of new playing fields and main outdoor facilities.
This strategic, phased approach enabled the successful transition from old to new, ensuring operational efficiency and safety throughout the construction process.
The St Mary’s College development, delivered in conjunction with St Cecilia’s College, Derry, was procured under the Government’s Private Finance Initiative (PFI) for St Canice’s Educational Trust. The scheme reflects a long-term commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure, providing modern facilities, and improving the overall learning experience for both students and the wider community.
