The Downshire Civic Centre, located on the former Downshire Hospital grounds in Downpatrick, now serves as the administrative headquarters for the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council. This transformation reflects a thoughtful approach to adaptive reuse — preserving the site’s historical significance while creating a functional and contemporary civic facility.
The centre is equipped with three conference suites designed to host a wide range of events and functions, along with six meeting rooms that provide flexible spaces for smaller gatherings. In addition, dedicated business areas support daily council operations, ensuring the building effectively meets the administrative and governance needs of the district.
