Staff who wish to progress their career are provided with a mentor who will ensure they remain on track to achieve professional recognition.
All staff receives a training plan with the emphasis on lateral co-operation, with staff on the same level supporting each other and a 10-year plan for their career progression.
Placements can bring a range of benefits and positive impacts for students, both in terms of academic performance and employability skills.
At OHMG, we offer a range of paid placements across all of our units including civil engineering and quantity surveying. This opportunity provides you with the opportunities to develop core academic concepts whilst also allowing you to gain on-the-job experience in a real-life environment.
During your placement, you will work alongside experienced professionals, learn about the business and get exposure to a strong client list. You’ll benefit from extensive training and a unique insight into the construction sector.
Professional Development Programme
OHMG’s encourages graduates to enrol on the CIOB’s Professional Development Programme (PDP), which leads to membership of the CIOB. This is a great foundation for recently graduated and or final year students commencing their careers in Construction. The programme supports young professionals to build essential competencies that will enhance their career prospects and development.
Our apprentices benefit from a combination of technical work experience and paid college release to help develop your chosen career path. Students have the ability to gain the relevant qualifications in professional courses such as engineering, construction management, quantity surveying and IT infrastructure. Similarly, we offer trade apprentices the experience to pursue hands-on practical careers in their chosen route.

Work experience is a great opportunity to gain an understanding into the world of work and an insight into your chosen industry. We have student placements across a wide variety of roles, providing a great insight into key skills needed that will help you with your career journey.
Whether it is short or long term placement, the experience you gain will always allow you to be viewed more favourably by employers.
We work in collaboration with Regional Colleges (eg. SRC, BMET) and Universities to offer trade apprenticeships and higher-level apprenticeships. Applications for apprenticeships are made directly to OHMG.
